One of the elements that made
blogging a resounding success in the online community is that it was one of the
first avenues where browser interaction was opened. Allowing people to comment
after each post, this was one of the first forms of social interaction where
the online community can share their opinions and thoughts to one another, and
not just to a select few people that they know online. Blog commenting allowed
people with the same interest to discuss a topic that they all have a passion
in, and today, these comments serve as the force in the success of a blog.
Blog commenting is very valuable to
any blogger because these doesn't just encourage the readers to get in on the
discussion, but it also provides the means to build a link or develop a
relationship between the blogger and the reader, ensuing to a return visit by
the reader. This is important for a blogger as this will allow them to build a
steady flow of traffic. To establish the relationship, you should also reply to
the comments left on your blog. This will humanize the blogger giving him or
her personality.
The reader on the other hand may be
another blogger, and blog commenting will be of great help as well in driving
traffic to his or her site. By leaving links to your site after your comments,
you can have the readers of that blog site visit yours as well. Now, there is
an unwritten rule about blog commenting that many bloggers respect which you
must always keep in mind. And that is to avoid comment spamming.
While blog comment spamming is not
really considered as forbidden, it is distasteful, and highly frowned upon in
the blogging community. Blog spamming occurs when a comment can be easily
qualified as a ploy to create link counts to drive traffic towards the commentator's site.
So, in order to avoid being accused
of comment spamming, your comments should be relevant to the discussion. And if
you have previous posts that are highly relevant to the blog post you are
leaving a comment in, the link that you leave should direct viewers to that
particular post. Don't comment just for the sake of leaving a link behind,
leave useful comments that would show that you actually read the blog and that
it will build your reputation as an authority in the subject at hand.
