Getting Started With Social Media? Beginners Tips For Small Businesses - PART II

Blogging For Reputation - Your Website to Sell
  1. If you don't have a website up and going, start your own with WordPress - but not the free one! This way you have total control of it and can change and update at will and keep your opt-in names as your own!

  2. Create a blog on your website. Be sure to update it at least 2x a week, with material that your "audience" or customer will find valuable. You are the expert, so share that expertise - solve their problem.

  3. Blogs expand on deeper information of the area of expertise that you have. Show your depth of knowledge, and your passion!

  4. Keep building and adding fresh content!

  5. Always have a call to action (CTA) at the end of your blog - lead them to another related article. Also invite them sign up for future emails that will have deeper content and updates.

  6. CTAs can be to go to another page of your website, include that url and link them to it. Here is where the selling copy is now effective!
Build Your Strategy. "If you fail to plan, you plan to fail."
  1. Without a strategy or a social business plan, you are stabbing in the dark and social media will turn into more work without the payback. Also realize that doing social media is now a part of your TOTAL marketing plan! Not just a fun thing on the side! Without inner-connecting you become just a "bill-board" and not relatable.

  2. Your social media sales funnel gets stronger and deeper if built-in with a progressive plan.

  3. A twitter post of interesting tidbits. Some will have a call to action to go to your Facebook page - When on Facebook, topics expand and curiosity is built up. An initial relationship is being nurtured where you will begin to engage more with your audience.

  4. Facebook is where you will invite your audience to participate in offering their comments or opinions or help you with what they need. You are still in the listening mode, and you are pulling in information of what your audience tells you of what they want to know more about.

  5. With information in hand from your audience, build a product or a platform of more knowledge for your audience to go after - but now, they will follow the CTA to go to your website/blog! Here they have already found you and trust you and are willing to take your suggestions or read more.

  6. Keep offering fresh content!

  7. On your website you have permission now to invite them to BUY! From being their expert, you've become their product or service provider! You gain a loyal fan base or customer base. They will recommend you to others and will bring more customers to you.

  8. Invite people to come to your social media through links and references to Facebook and Twitter and your Blog in your emails, direct mails and store signage. Hyperlink the links too!

  9. Short cutting this strategy will only make the finding of new customers on-going and your job more difficult because you didn't develop loyalty. It is harder to find new customers than to keep your old ones.
Create a SOCIAL FOCUS and you will grow a great social media marketing plan!

Making Social Media Marketing Work For Your Business

The internet has caused a drastic change in the way businesses market themselves and allow potential customers to find them. Small business owners are now accepting that it is no longer an option to not have an online presence. Many owners, however, feel lost the minute they begin developing their online marketing platform. One of the easiest ways businesses can get started promoting themselves online is through social media marketing. Sites such as Facebook, Twitter, Google+, and YouTube are great places to get started marketing your business.
Is Social Media Marketing Effective?
There is no easy answer to the question, as numerous entrepreneurs argue over the effectiveness of social marketing. There is, however, no doubt that there is a vast amount of untapped potential in these sites because of the number of people used them on a daily basis. The customers are already lined up and are ready to be marketed to - it's a matter of getting their attention. The one main benefit of social marketing, especially for online beginners, is that it is easy to set up a presence online. There is no need to develop your own website or rely on traffic solely through SEO. It is as simple as filling out information about your business, adding your logo and submitting your profile. Of course this alone is not going to attract many customers. There is much more work that has to be put into an effective small business social media strategy, but by quickly connecting with friends, family and current customers, it can quickly grow your business's online presence. The availability of being able to share promotions and content with customers alone makes social media effective.
Plans For An Effects Small Business Social Media Strategy
Social media marketing can be effective, but plans need to be put into place to ensure its effectiveness. Obviously, the first step is creating a page to market your business. Your page needs to tell the customer who you are and what your purpose is. Make sure your contact information is in bold print and in plain view for the customer to see. By providing contact information, it ensures the customer that you are a real business. If you already have an online site, make sure to provide a link to it on your page. Start off by contacting people that you already know and encourage them to promote your business through their contacts. Begin to post information or videos about your business for customers to get to know you better. One of the most beneficial parts of an effective social media strategy is to not just promote the products or services that you will be making money off of. Give the customers practical and useful advise for free. By giving people a reason to visit your page, it ensures repetitive exposure. People are also generally more willing to do business with someone that they feel is there to provide a real service, instead of just taking their money. The last step is developing a paid adverting campaign. Ensure that your market targets the types of customers most likely to be interested in your business.
So is social media marketing effective? Definitely. But don't abandon all of the traditional methods of marketing. It is best to form a marketing plan that incorporates both options.

What Is Social Media in 7 Minutes?

Social Media in 7 Minutes (SMI7M) is a revolutionary online training program designed to not only educate small business owners on how to apply social media into their marketing plan, but also to provide a practical tool which will allow them to implement their marketing plan in just 7 minutes a day.
SMI7M was developed by Black Box Social Media, LLC (BBSM), and Mike Dillard. BBSM is a social media marketing for business consulting group who works with higher end clients, such as former Reality TV Stars, Professional Sports Teams, International Motivation Speakers, Gurus, Infomercial products, etc... Mike Dillard is perhaps one of the most well-respected internet marketing experts in the field today and owner of such multi million dollar companies as the Elevation Group and Better NetWorker. The goal of creating SMI7M was to provide small businesses with the opportunity to understand, create, and implement a social media marketing plan that works in today's tough economic climate.
What Makes Social Media in 7 Minutes Unique?
There are two specific traits to SMI7M that separate it from any other training program:
First, SMI7M is an online video training series. The benefit is that the trainings will be continuously adapted to fit the ever changing dynamic of social media. BBSM Co-Founder Curt Maly says the following:
"If you write a book on social media, it will be outdated by the time it is printed due to the evolving nature of the technology. With SMI7M, we update our videos to match the rapidly chaotic changes of the industry. We update our users; we host webinars to explain new technologies (such as Google+), and we reshoot our videos to provide easy to follow step by step directions on how to implement and perform. There is no other living, breathing training system for small businesses like this available anywhere else!"
Currently, SMI7M offers over 30 video step by step 'how-to' trainings with workbooks revolving around the business utilization of social sites, such as Facebook, Twitter, LinkedIn, YouTube, and Foursquare. The first part of the video series, it's 'foundation' part, details how to set up and design each social site; which is perfect for beginners. The remaining trainings gradually increase in it's degree of difficulty as the creators slowly reveal their ninja tricks that will allow you to unlock the unlimited potential of this great marketing tool. The trainings also have manuals on how to set up online directories, such as Google Places, Yelp, BingLocal, YahooLocal, etc... to further boost your SEO and social interaction.
As new technologies emerge, such as Google+, SMI7M will create new how-to videos to show users exactly how to set up and utilize these latest technologies.
The second unique benefit of SMI7M is it's own software tool called the '7 Minute Dashboard'. The 7 Minute Dashboard is the crux of the SMI7M product. Once you've been trained on and set up your social media accounts, this tool will allow you to manage all of your accounts from one location quickly, efficiently, simply, and in just 7 minutes a day. The 7 Minute Dashboard will allow users to perform the following functions from one location:
  • Update all Facebook, Twitter, and LinkedIn feeds
  • Schedule out future posts
  • Respond to all emails, responses, and engagements
  • Update and syndicate all blogs
  • Create and Send Text Messages
  • Create and Send Email blasts
  • Provide detailed marketing reports
  • and much more!
BBSM Co-Founder Nick Bridges details the importance of the 7 Minute Dashboard:
"The problem with most trainings is while they provide great information, the user generally doesn't know how to implement the training; how to put it into action. Our 7 Minute Dashboard is designed to allow small business owners the ability to turn their education into action by managing all of their social media sites in just 7 minutes a day. I don't care how busy you are, you can always find an extra 7 minutes a day to help promote your product and service and make more profits!"
Just as websites are ingrained in Business Marketing 101 as a 'must-have' for all businesses, social media now is a requirement for every website. Here are some telling statistics about the impact that social proof has on influencing consumer buying decisions:
  • 14% of people trust ads while 76% of people trust consumer recommendations
  • 81% of said they'd received advice from friends and followers relating to a product purchased through a social site, and 75% of those who received such advise found it to be influential in their buying decision
  • 80% of US Internet using moms were influenced by word of mouth from friends and family when making a purchasing decision
This great social technology allows businesses to interact with their customers and potential clients and provide social proof in a more personal manner than ever before. A successful social media marketing campaign will have a extremely high ROI with minimal time or monetary investment...if you know what you are doing. Hiring employees is time consuming, risky, and costly. Outsourcing these functions to other marketing consulting companies is very expensive. SMI7M, with its 7 Minute Dashboard is the cost effective, time saving solution to the challenge of 'how to create and implement a social media marketing plan' for small businesses today.
