If you've been trying to make money online or are making money online then you will no doubt have come across the phrase "The money is in the list".

What this means is that the way to make a significant amount of income from the Internet is to build a list of people to market to.

When you have a list of people to market to then it's almost like you have the ability to get people to send you money, on demand. This is assuming, of course, that you already have the trust of the people who are on your list and they see you as an authority in whatever niche you're promoting.

This is what makes it so much easier to market to people, than by doing other forms of advertising and why so many new people get into it.

So how do you go about getting a list? Well you have to give people a reason to give you their name and email, for a start. People on the Internet are more wary than ever of the amount of scammers out there who will give them nothing for something and then keep spamming them.

So in order to get someone's name and email, you must give them something of value. This could be free information that you can give them about their niche that can help them.

If you treat them as a friend and try to help them rather than immediately try to sell them stuff, they are much more likely to buy things that you recommend again and again.

Then once you have their name and email, you can give them a mixture of free information and products that you can sell to them. This way they are likely to see you a as a person who wants to help rather than just another marketer, like I said above.
