How to Write a Great Blog for Your Website

Would you like to get your blog noticed by your target market?
Would you like people to share your websites content?
Blogging for your website provides content that the major search engines welcome. For a start, the more frequently you update your websites content, the better you will rank over time. If your content is interesting, relevant and engaging, there's a likelihood that it will be shared within the social media channels. Search engines love this. It's good for SEO!
Writing a blog post is easy, but writing a great blog post requires an understanding of the traits that popular posts have in common.
Once you've worked out what those traits are, with a little practice, you'll be rewarded with increased traffic, more conversions and create a buzz about your site.
Let's take a look at those traits.
How to write a great blog title.
Even the best posts can be let down by a poor title. You could have an excellent post, but if the title isn't interesting - the reader may not even bother to read on.
If you want to catch the attention of your readers, here are some ways that have been proven to provoke a response.
  • Steal a popular headline from the news and work your post around it, (making it relevant of course).
  • Add some humor
  • Make a bold statement, declaration, or be controversial.
  • Breaking News (never lie or mislead - it will turn the reader off and discredit your site)
  • Start with a "How To" it's one of the widely used - people love knowledge.
Try to engage your user as fast as possible. One way to do this, is to aim to get the user to think about something. For example "We reduced our prices by 43% last week. Want to know how we did this?".
One final tip on writing effective blog post titles - ALWAYS THINK ABOUT THE FOLLOWING...
"What would the reader want to see?"
It's not about you. It never is. There's a lot of noise on the internet, people aren't looking for things to read. Great posts are definitely NOT in short supply. If your going to compete, you need to ensure that you understand that every single one of your readers will all have one question in common...
