The Must-Read Review of Social Media for Internet Marketers

For readers who are new to internet marketing, and are searching online for various tools to get started, you will find a deluge of information out there. The Internet has become a huge repository of free information, but the consequence of lots of information out there may cause confusion. With all the tools available to promote your business, where do you start? This is an essential must read for new beginners, as I will clarify which social medium you should choose for internet marketing.
The main reason for failure is because people can choose the wrong medium for sales. I believe that when a seasoned internet marketer promotes their techniques they find effective, the mentor will often find some students unsuccessful. The difference in outcome is simply because: We are all different in our approaches and our preferences.
Some free tools to use in our marketing arsenal include social media include Blogs, Twitter, Facebook and YouTube. They allow us the freedom to express ourselves, and in doing so, may promote our products (or as affiliates). There are a few essential differences between these different media. The trick is to choose what suits our personality, so that we would keep utilising these tools to reach our goals.
A blog would suit people who like writing and contributing regular posts. You would preferably blog about area which you have an interest in. You need to engage the readers to maintain them as potential customers, so passion about the subject helps. Otherwise, it would be a chore to keep updating it, and unlike a static website or virtual shop front, a successful blog needs to keep churning out interesting posts. As a blog has a fixed website address, you would need to direct traffic to it. However, once momentum builds up, this will potentially be a loyal follower group, who we know thrive on reading our words - an excellent position to be in.
Twitter suits a different sort of writers: writing less but frequently. For those people who like to text (also called SMS), this would also be an appealing social medium. The short messages they write could similarly be tweeted as updates, automatically posted online to followers.
Facebook is for people who like personal contacts, wanting to know more about their customers including their family, their jobs, what their lives involve. A great medium if we would like to start our marketing strategies on friends and family first and get feedback. However, the people we connect with this way will have diverse interests, and a 'divide and conquer approach' to separate them accordingly before marketing will provide a better yield. The other issue is a blending in of home and work, one I do not recommend for any business.
YouTube is an excellent means to promote products and have our message broadcasted online, particularly if we do not like writing. Action speaks louder than words, so a visual representation may send longer lasting impressions than any description. This would suit creative artistic people, as the potential of what to video is limitless. However, you will need to overcome stage fright or performance anxiety. If you have the right personality, I suggest you go for it.
Overall, we need to tailor the tools we use to our marketing style. The key to success is persistence. So if we keep utilising our tools the right way, we should eventually reach our goals. Choose wisely, for the tool makes the man.
