Facebook was created as a medium to network and interact with many different people, and this should be a cornerstone of your efforts when using the site to promote yourself or product. You will come into contact with many different people so it is wise to never talk about religion, sex, politics, money, how amazing your product is or how it can change people's lives. You are there to build relationships, it is very easy to offend someone when you mention any of the above, potentially losing you a follower and potential buyer.

Lastly and I think the most important thing you must take on board when trying to make money with Facebook is to never ever spam your link onto people's wall, or into their inbox. Give them information about what it is you do when they ask for it, not beforehand. We all hate to be sold to and it is no different when online. It never ceases to amaze me the amount of people who are out there trying to push their product onto people. People will come to ask you about what it is you do after you have built a relationship with them and they come to know like and trust you. That is how you will make money with Facebook.
