A Blueprint for Building a Successful Blog Site

Much like your next holiday trip, successful blogging needs to begin with research and planning. This includes defining the purpose of your blog, the market you are trying to reach and the resources you intend to bring into play in order to reach your goal.
Next, you should compose several blogs in advance of posting them. This allows the effective use of carefully designed ads on your blogs to provide a source of income. Banner ads selling a product or products, and Google's AdSense which yields a share of Google's profits per click, are two methods of monetizing your blogs.
Successful Blogging becomes a reality only through many repeated entries which follow a detailed long term plan. Success comes slowly and is built a little bit at a time with each blog posted like adding another rung on a very long ladder. It isn't exceedingly difficult, but does require consistent, repeated effort to reach the summit.
To be successful, blogs must establish a loyal and growing readership. There are no one shot wonders in this field. Readership equates to traffic and traffic to real or potential earnings. The more people who are attracted to your blog on a continuing basis the sooner your dreams of profits will be realized. Readers will be attracted by high quality content and their ability to rely on regular doses of your postings.
Use information from your original research to provide some sources of ideas for the content to be presented. Another source is subscribing to Google Alerts to get apprised of some selected recent blog posts by others in your area of interest. These will be delivered to your e-mail box each day for you to peruse and take inspiration from. If selected carefully, these very recent articles by others will give you a real sense of the current relevant topics.
Success will be realized in two ways. Firstly by your regular posting of quality content which holds the attention of your readers and secondly by following other methods of increasing traffic to your blog site. Writing interesting blogs is only part of the job.
Just like all forms of Internet marketing, blogging requires "off site" marketing" to help increase the number of loyal readers to your blogs. Some of these "extra" methods should include visiting, reading and making relevant comments on other blog sites, offering to exchange guest blogs, and by exchanging links with other established bloggers. Becoming well known in the blogging community will add to your efforts. Investigate and incorporate other methods of traffic generation such as article marketing and press releases, plus any other methods of increasing traffic you wish to employ. There are many good articles on Internet traffic here on EzineArticles.
Lastly, consider joining a blogger's network related to your major blogging topic. Such a network can provide an easier way to develop relationships. Some networks allow and even encourage announcements which should increase traffic. They might also encourage cross postings which would put your posts in front of a new set of readers. They provide assistance with problems such as technical, SEO, and administrative hang-ups and are potential benefits gained from joining a blogger's network. Then there is the added prestige you will enjoy. As a member you are no longer working alone trying to master the intricacies of successful blogging.
Notwithstanding that you might be a marketing genius with a really great idea for a blog, be prepared for an initial period of apprenticeship. Building a colony of readers takes quite a lot of time and effort. Initial profits will reflect the size of your readership. But sticking to your plan with consistent posts of high quality content, realizing and relishing each gain will reward you and replenish your desire to have a successful blog.
