Tips on Writing A Successful Blog Post

I was recently asked the other day what was the most important point in writing a blog post.
Was it keywords? Or was there 'more to it' than just keywords? My answer was both however, whilst keywords do play an important role, the most important factor of all is to write for your readers.
Whilst keywords can and do help you to achieve that number one ranking with the search engines, your readers are MORE important.
For example, a person lands on your blog, and really loves what you have written, it's the most natural thing in the world for them to want to share it with their friends. And also leave a comment. Of course by sharing your blog will be in front of another reader who will love your content and pass it on to their friends.
As you can see, by writing for people and NOT the search engines your blog will go 'viral'. When that happens those search engine spiders will pick up on that factor and voila you will achieve that number one ranking.
The very best way to write for your readers is to write just as you would speak to your friends. Don't be too formal, after all you are not delivering a lengthy monlogue in parliament. But more putting your views, opinions, thoughts and help down on 'paper', so to speak.
Write in a natural style it's not the length of the words you use but what your words have to say which counts. The old saying keep it simple really is the way to go. It pays to remember that not everyone reading your posts will have your language as their first language. And no-one wants to be running for the dictionary every second word.
With keywords, just use the words in the title of your post, preferably in the first paragraph, scattered through the body of your post and in the last paragraph.
Your first paragraph and last are the most important ones as they are the ones the spiders will scan. Through the body be careful don't over do it you don't want the search engine spiders detecting an overload of keywords, as this will NOT bring about a good ranking, rather your site will vanish.
Another tip is not to waffle, keep to the point, and make sure you really know your subject matter. You may fool a few people but the greater percentage of people landing on your blog will have some knowledge at least of the subject matter and they are looking for further information. So, know your subject matter, do some research if necessary on any point you may not be sure about, don't try to fool people they will NOT appreciate that one little bit.
Remember it is your readers who are the most important people. If they love your blog, they will return, share and leave comments. All this adds up to a good ranking with the search engines.
So if you are thinking of writing a blog post, have fun, keep it simple and write as you would when talking to friends. Just insert those keywords in the first and last paragraph, with a small smattering through the body. And you will find your blog will become very popular without any stress or strain on your part. Have fun.
