How to Build a List - 4 Methods

So, if you've been in the Internet marketing industry for any length of time, you've probably seen the many, many gurus out there constantly saying that to truly reap success a list is necessary. But you might be wondering exactly how to build a list quickly and with responsive subscribers.
Indeed, this is what stops most people, even those who have found success but haven't taken the time to build a list. It can be daunting, to say the least, to try and figure out exactly the best way to do this. And yet, this is one of the most important tools in your toolbox as it will help you achieve and maintain long-term residual income. With that said, here are some of the quickest ways to do so.
1. The first, and most widely used method for how to build a list is the "giveaway" method. Essentially, what you do here is drive targeted traffic to your site (targeted traffic is key here), and give them something of value in exchange for their email and name. This most often is an e-book that gives specific tips on solving a particular problem, but can also take the form of an mp3 interview or video.
2. Another method that is used is forum marketing. What this simply means is that you find a forum related to your niche and solution that has high traffic and sign up, and when you post, you're squeeze page will be in your signature. The key with this method is to NOT simply spam you link. You want to make good contributions to the forum and as you go become recognized as someone that gives the place good value.
3. Another method that is super fast but is paid is PPC or pay per click. For those that don't know, you set up a Google AdWords account and bid on keywords and keyword phrases, developing short 4 line ads that display in the search results, when someone clicks you get charged the CPC or cost per click. This is ultra fast how to build a list method and can result in you getting targeted traffic and subscribers within 24 hours.
BONUS TIP: Proper keyword research is essential here. One way to mitigate the cost is by setting a totally budget for your campaign and then prepaying as opposed to just letting it run on a credit card. This way you will get an accurate picture of what is working and maintain your budget.
4. Social Media. Ah, Facebook, MySpace, great places for keeping in touch, along with Twitter and many other sites. But, what most don't see is how you can leverage these sites. Consider for a moment that they all have massive traffic every single day and are a place where specific groups can get information they need. You've essentially got an audience already predisposed to seriously considering your offer and joining your list. This makes the question of how to build a list an easy one to answer. As with forum marketing, the key is to give true value and not to come off sounding like a marketer but more like a friend.
