How to Build a List and Get Rich From It

The question of how to build a list is one that perplexes many marketers. There is so much information online about this topic that a lot of people get confused, and end up never getting started. The reality is, having a list of prospects is one of the most important things you can do for your business. Here are some tips on how to build a profitable email list.
First of all, it is imperative that you have the signup form prominently featured somewhere on your site. While it is important to have it on the main home page, it should also be listed on all your interior pages as well. Often times these pages will cumulatively bring in more traffic than the home page, so having an opt-in form on them is critical. One way to immediately get more traffic to your list is to offer an affiliate program. That way, other people will promote your product or services, and this can give you a huge influx of traffic.
Another way to get a bigger list is to use a squeeze page. Now, many people hate these pages, because they claim they are annoying. While they might be annoying, they do work. The reason is, they force the person at your site to either opt-in, or leave. Assuming you have an interesting and compelling headline on the squeeze page, they will often not be able to help themselves from seeing what is inside the site.
However, getting more subscribers is the easy part of how to build a list. After all, all you need is more traffic. The hard part is converting people on the list into paying customers. Fortunately, achieving this is actually not that difficult, when you know how.
First, make sure you include lots of great free information. You might not think this is important, but having good quality info is imperative for getting your subscribers to trust you. If your information is good, your prospects will think that your paid product must be even better. However, if your free info is not that valuable, they will immediately assume that your paid product is not worth it either.
In other words, you want your free information to be so good that it could be a paid product in and of itself. You want your customers to be able to get results from it whether they ever buy your paid products or not. That way, they will start taking and applying your tips. When they see results from them, they will become more excited, and will be chomping at the bit to buy your product.
As you can tell, building a list is only half the battle. The other half of the equation is converting that list into paying customers. To accomplish this, you must provide great free information. If you do not, it does not matter whether your list has 30 people or 30,000-you will not make money. Implement these tips on how to build a list the right way, and you will see results very shortly.
