Article Marketing For Beginners - Top 7 Easily Avoidable Mistakes Made by Beginners (and Experts)

Beginning Article Marketers tend to make the same mistakes when they are first starting out. Even lots of veterans make these mistakes. So here are the top 7 mistakes beginners (and veterans) make and what to do instead.
Top 7 Mistakes
Mistake 1 - Thinking just a few will do - Beginners publish a few articles and then sit back and wait for the traffic and profits. When it does not come they say Article Marketing does not work. Article Marketing works, some people don't.
What to Do Instead - Article Marketing is a volume game. The greater the number of articles, the greater all your other numbers will be.
Mistake 2 - Making articles too long - Beginners want to share everything they know about a topic, thus "giving away the store." Articles over 500 words are just too long. I've seen ones that are over 1000 words long.
What to Do Instead - Keep your articles between 300 - 500 words. Anything over 500 words should be two or more articles.
Mistake 3 - Trying to cover too many topics in one article - Related to the second mistake, it's easy to get off track and try to cover too many topics on one article. The article ends up rambling and too long.
What to Do Instead - One topic, one article. When you are tempted to include more than one topic, save it for another article.
Mistake 4 - Writing non-compelling (boring) titles - I see beginners write titles that look and sound academic and boring, as if they were writing a term paper in school.
What to Do Instead - The article title is just like a headline in a newspaper - its job is to grab attention. Make sure you have at least one benefit to the reader in the title.
Mistake 5 - Stuffing the article with keywords - Some beginners think the more keywords they can stuff into the article the better. The reality is this will get your article rejected.
What to Do Instead - Make sure you have your keywords in the first and last paragraph. In between just write naturally and the keywords will show up.
Mistake 6 - Making the Resource Box all about you - I see this one All the Time. People use the Resource Box to try to convince the reader they are a real expert. Real waste of time.
What to Do Instead - It's all about what is in it for the reader. Remember, they are listening to radio station WIIFM - What's In It For Me?
Mistake 7 - Failing to ask the reader to take any action - It's incredible to me how many beginners fail to ask the reader to take the next step in the process. I guess it just does not occur to most folks.
What to Do Instead - Invite them back to your web site or blog to exchange their email address for more good information from you.
