Social Media Tips - 8 Top Twitter Strategies For Tweet Success

I have been using Twitter for some time, and have developed a huge knowledge base of how it works, how it can be used, and about all of the apps out there to assist in time management and other social media strategies.
My clients often ask me how they can better manage their use of time on Twitter. So, Bellow you will find some of my top tips for using Twitter and saving time:
1. Use lists, not just for industries or verticals, but for prospects, clients, partners, reporters, and friends. Otherwise, things can get disorganized quickly!
2. Do not automatically DM (direct message) people who follow you - it is considered spam, not courtesy.
3. Allow sometime between tweets (5 minutes is the absolute minimum) - do not flood your followers' home pages (this rule can be bent while live-tweeting a conference, but then you have to use the hashtag).
4. Use tools such as HootSuite to schedule your tweets out over the day or week.
5. Write in 120 characters or less, not the 140 available, so that others can easily RT (retweet) and share a word or two of their own.
6. Tweet about news stories that are of interest across the board.
7. RT your competitor's tweets to create and keep friends in your area of expertise.
8. Add please RT if you have a new blog post or tweet that you feel is relevant to others.
